The theory of task-based language testing is popular overseas from 1980s to 1990s. The domestic scholars in this field are Professor Han Baocheng and Professor Liu Runqing.More researchers and teachers turn to this field recently. However, most of them just focus on the advantages and developing trend of this theory itself, and few of them think of applying it into the teaching process. Therefore, the author applied the theory in her teaching process during the last two years. By making some task-based tests, she has collected quite a few first-hand data and materials that may fully illustrate her research on this topic. This dissertation is composed of five parts. Chapter 1 is a brief introduction to the definition and implied meaning of language testing. Two important influential factors are mentioned: Reliability and Validity. The author also lists the overall development of the language testing in the modern history and points out the characteristics and disadvantages of the previous ones. In chapter two, the author focuses on the new trend in English teaching that includes the learner-centeredness model and task-based teaching approach. The third chapter first tries to show the successful application of task-based teaching and testing on the students' English learning, especially in Speaking and Reading parts. Then it talks about the definition, classification, and difficulty levels of the designed tasks in details. Sufficient teaching samples are strong supports to illustrate the practicality of this scientific theory. The contents of the forth part are the further description of the subjects and tools in the designed tasks. Moreover, the results of the tests are analyzed in this chapter. The last part draws thorough conclusion on the whole dissertation from different angles and guides the author along her way on the research of task-based language teaching and language testing.
