Jia Yi, a political commenter, a great ideologist and a litterateur in the early age of Xi Han Dynasty, has ever played a vital role in China's history with his elegant writing and profound thoughts. His time, the central stage in the process of social transformation from the Qin Dynasty into the Han Dynasty, features an obvious transition, and this engraves greatly his thoughts. Politically, a circulatory process is operated from abolishing the system of partition to enforcing the system of shire and county to collateral of shire and county and then to single shire or county. The thought of "disintegrating the vassals to weaken their power" put forward by Jia Yi has played an essential part in this transitional process. Ideologically, a similarly circulatory process is operated from cracking down the Confucianism and enforcing the Legalists to the "governing by nonaction" of the Taoism to the exclusive Confucianism. Efforts made by him at the upsurge of Confucianism have extended its influence by combining with solving some social problems, such as vassal kingdom, social ethos and problem of the Hun. By synthesizing Confucianism, Taoism and Legalism, Jia Yi Thoughts have played a big part and enjoyed a certain position in our history.
