Chinese Images In The American Movies

Different from the previous study,this dissertation considers movie as an opening mass culture phenomenon,a culture symbol as well,and study movies from crossculture and interdiscipline perspective.The dissertation focuses on the Chinese images in the American movies.Basing on the carefully analysis each movie from different periods in the American movie history,the author find out some regularities:first,Chinese images in the American movies are diferent in the different periods.It's discovered that Chinese images are swinging between the two stereotype "evil"and "kindness".Second,stereotype can often be seen when it comes to treating "the other "—Chinese images in the American movies. For example,in the American movies,Chinese men are sissy,Chinese women are easily attracted by foreign men,then fall in love with them.The reason why these images shaped are complex.The dissertation looks through the history of "heaven imagination"and "hell imagination"to China in the western sociaty,to illustrate the prototype of Chinese images.What's more, the author disscuss the reasons from ideology and expecting horizon perspective.Finally,the dissertation analyzes the influence the Chinese images in the American movies bring.
