A Study On The Construction Of Asian American Images In American Dramas From The Perspective Of Orientalism

As the main product of American cultural output,the shaping of different groups in the American drama reflects the attitude of American society to a certain extent.For Asian Americans who have changed from "yellow disaster" to "model minority",their screen image in recent years has also changed from "the other" to elite and positive ones.However,the symbolic meaning of the screen image is far greater than that of real life.At its root,the core of Orientalism has also staying.With the 2008-2017 Emmy Award-winning and nominated episodes,this article focus on the analyzing of the changes in the Asian image in American drama and explores the oriental significance behind it.The first chapter combs the history of American Asian immigrants and the history of American drama,clarifies the changes of Asian images in the early American films and television industry.The second chapter analyzes the construction of the main Asian images in the sample dramas.In the third chapter,from the perspective of the theory of Orientalism,the cultural interpretation of the analysis of Asian image analysis is carried out.The fourth chapter rethinks the construction of Asian image in American dramas.
