The Analysis On The Language Style Of Lao-zi

In the book of Wenxindiaolong, Liu Xie said: "Lao Zi hated untruth, so he said colorful words were not deserved to believe, however, the 5,000 incisive and wonderful words in the book of lao-zi are actually very beautiful." Lao Zi was not only a philosopher, but also a master of language art. Among the many studies about"lao-zi", we have yet not to find the works from the perspective of Linguistic Stylistics to carry through a comprehensive, systematic analysis about the language style of the book named lao-zi.In the course of study, we used many research methods such as comprehensive analysis, statistical research, visual description, intuitive judgement, comparison and so on to achieve a detailed exposition and analysis focused on the language style, the constituent elements and means, and the reasons for the unique language style.The analysis on the language style of lao-zi was from the attribute of language variety and the language performance style. Through research, we found that lao-zi had its own unique language style: on the one hand, the language variety of lao-zi was relatively unique, we believe it is a poesy and philosophical prose, so it belongs to literature and art language variety through a lot of analysises. On the other hand, on the language performance style, the tone of lao-zi is simple but abundant, inornate and natural.The unique attribute of language variety, the language performance style of simple but abundant and inornate and natural were made by the constituent elements and means of style such as much and dense rhyme, precise and felicitous words, diverse sentences, abundance rhetoric methods, flexible means of expression and so forth.In addition, we discussed the reasons on the lao-zi for its unique language style, we thought Lao Zi's concept of philosophy, language and the culture of Central Plains, Chu culture and so on all had important impacts on the formation of lao-zi.Finally, it is a brief summary of the whole paper. We believe that this study plays an important role in the study of lao-zi, the Linguistic Stylistics, Literature Appreciation and Writing and so on.
