Research On Szymanowski's No.1 Sonata

Poland music once has splendid history,during the years between 1810 and 1849,the appearance of the famous composer Chopin has put Poland music to the zenith.Chopin uses highly perfect art form reflecting profound national gut,his compositions have been exciting the heart of human being up to the present.However,after Chopin,Poland music has suddenly come to a "fault",for dozens of years,there were no nationalized and international composers,and the composition of Poland music has come to its trough until the appearance of Szymanowski.Szymanowski is the greatest musician after Chopin in Poland history.His app earance has broken the long-time closed and backward situation of Poland music community,and poured fresh blood to the development of Poland music,and became the most important musician who bridged the gap in the history of Poland music.Szymanowski has been questing industriously for the road of national Poland music in his life.He combined the western schools and Chopin's composition as his starting point,and broke with tradition and blazed new trials audaciously,and sought his own style in the whole life.After hacking his way through difficulties,he finally put himself on the highest level of professional European music composition,and explored a new kind of Poland music that belongs to Poland even to the whole world.He shouldered the lofty responsibility that should be taken on by a national artist,and made Poland music,after Chopin,shining on the world stage again.Therefore, Szymanowski became the milestone after Chopin.Szymanowski has founded the organization of "Young Poland in Music" in 1905,and it is deemed as "the new Poland in music",which "changes Poland's music status in quo". Szymanowski's No.1 Sonata that will be studied in this thesis was composed in 1905,and it can represent the composing idea and music style perfectly at that time.Therefore,studying Szymanowski and this sonata has certain academic value and applied value.This thesis will follow four ways of thinking of analysis:Szymanowski,national Poland music,Piano sonata and Szymanowski's No.1 Sonata.The thesis is divided into four parts: Partâ… summarizes his musical creating career in early,medium and later periods,and analyses his composing style in different periods and evolvement process of music thinking among the three stages.Partâ…¡appraises the effect that he developed to Poland music even to entire Poland society,and emphasizes his influence and position in history.Partâ…¢elaborates piano sonata's developing history and the sonata form's aesthetics implication,consequently elicits the analysis of this sonata.Partâ…£elaborates Szymanowski's No.1 Sonata in detail, Emphasizes the factor about its creation background and the multitudinous factors,Meanwhile,analyses the musical form,melody,rhythm,harmony,mode and tonality,performing,the aesthetics and philosophy eight aspects all-round.Makes every effort to grasp his creation characteristic and music style.Theoretical analysis,example analysis and inducing analysis were implored in this research,with the guideline that everything is a unity of opposites,this dissertation did research in both macrocosmic and microcosmic aspects,for macrocosmic aspect,the author mainly focused on musical composition of Szymanowski,its influence on both the development of national music in Poland and the historical development of Piano Sonata. These detailed creative methods,such as the form and the melody of the four chapters of this composition were analyzed in a microcosmic way.During the research,the author of this thesis put up with some novel ideas on the issues such as:the influence of Szymanowskion the music development and even the whole society of Poland;the relationship between his creation and poetry,the impact of those composers on him,especially Beethoven and Wagner;and the aesthetic meaning of this composition,etc.besides,as there is no relevant materials on the research of Szymanowskithat we could resort to at home,the author did some pioneering work on the microcosmic analysis of musical form,melody,rhythm,harmony,mode and tonality,performing,the aesthetics and philosophy eight aspects, and put some new questions that anybody didn't say,trying to make this composition more conspicuous among those tens and thousands of piano compositions.Except for the musical analysis of this composition,more research had been done by viewing music as a cultural phenomenon,it shows the highest level of anguish and loftiness of human being;also,it expresses the feeling of loneliness and the desire for spiritual land, the most significant thing is that it gives the exact meaning of happiness.With music as its exhibiting form,Szymanowski manifested the most indispensable topic of humankind from all aspects which brought endless enlightenment to the following generations.This dissertation is aimed at making the public know more about Szymanowski and his music,and experience the thought and unique aesthetic idea it brought with;What's more,we are deeply enlightened by his hard,lifetime creation that would be useful to the creation of our national music,this is of uttermost importance of this dissertation.
