Restructing Time And Space With Composite Layer Techniques In Digital Age

Since people had limitations in understanding the principles of film imaging technology which was not well developed, the exploration of space-time on film was still at a relatively simple stage in the very beginning of the film art. Due to the closed imaging process, the time and space on film shall be locked and unable to change as soon as the film is photosensitized. The control of space-time on film can only stay in the context of editing frame units horizontally. The color film recording the panchromatic world is photosensitized though different emulsion layers, which uncovers the concept of layers in film images. It can be widely used and developed behind the scenes. However, the concept of layers in film images has not been able to attract people's attention for a long time and the function of space-time on film has not be well developed either because of the lag in technology. The function of layers in film images has not been excavated and released, until digital technology comes into the process of movie production. Under the conditions of digital technology, a layer unable to modify earlier before is now a basic unit in digital composite techniques. The film images has been rapidly extended in the two dimension of time and space by the composition of layers and reassembling of pixels.In this dissertation, qualitative analysis and quantitative comparison are used for the proof. First, we start with the concept of layers, and then we give a clear reasonable definition of layers in the digital technology. Through analysis of classified lens example, we can draw a conclusion on how to restruct the two dimensions of space-time on film based on techniques of layers. Finally, by analyzing its essence, we can further explore how deep influence the layers make on human concept of space-time on film, and what significance the restruction has on the contemporary art of film and even the future development of the film. Therefore, we can provide a new perspective and some theoretical references on the extension of contemporary Film Aesthetics and the research on space-time view of human beings in digital age.
