On The Aesthetic Effect Of Science Fiction Films From The Perspective Of Audience's Experience

The thesis deals with the study of aesthetic effect of science fiction films (sci-fi films) instead of the other researchers' perspective of virtual reality. It pioneers a new path by applying the relative theoretical methods of life aesthetics, reception aesthetics, film-television aesthetics and aesthetic psychology. Its breakthrough point is the aesthetic activity of the audience's reception experience while they are enjoying sci-fi films. It centers on the relationship between life and sci-fi films and elaborates on the aesthetic effect of sci-fi films from three dimensions. One dimension is the extension of time and space of human sensory organs under the influence of sci-fi films among visible mirror-images; still another is the transcendence of sci-fi films out of the visible mirror-images over the space and time of human spirit; and the other is the return of sci-fi films to the value of life itself in the multidimensional transcendence in the depth of the mirror-images.While the thesis further explores the aesthetic occurrence of sci-fi films and expounds in detail the reasons for the audience's preference to sci-fi films, the specific aesthetic effect and the deep cultural meaning are presented in the transcendence and the tension of sci-fi films to life. Firstly, the conspicuous aesthetic characteristic of sci-fi films at the level of audio-visual sensory organs is that sci-fi films vibrate and extend the audience's experience of sensory organs through the audio-visual presentation from the invisible to the visible, satisfying the life demand for the challenge to the limit of sensory experience. Secondly, the mirror-image language of sci-fi films, novel, grotesque and gaudy, turns into the carrier of psychological desire of ego projection of the audience and their spiritual pursuit. Therefore, the audience will achieve the satisfaction of inner psychology and mental aspect as well as aesthetic pleasure. Thirdly, the creative tendency and the reception experience of sci-fi films display the contradiction and unification of threefold life, which, basically, embodies the connotation and the reception inclination of the return to life itself and reflects the eternal exploration of the value and meaning of life.
