Maclntyre's"After Virtue"is a very famous works of modern Western Ethics. In this book, Maclntyre has insisted the ideas of virtue that returned to pre-modern. This paper attempts to tap the basic viewpoint, the value of position, as well as theoretical significance of Maclntyre's virtue thinking.The writer believes that"virtue"is the most important concept in Maclntyre's"After Virtue". And in Maclntyre's theoretical system"moral is virtue"is the idealistic goal of his thinking of virtue, the communitarianism is the realistic way to his thinking of virtue, and both are dialectical unity and complementarity. Maclntyre emphasized moral theory because he criticized moedern issues of modern Western society by the starting point. He believes that there are morals lost and the spirit of the people displaced in the modern Western society, the reason is that Aristotle's traditional virtues lost. Return to virtues of ethics in Aristotle's era is the way to rescue the moral issues of modern Western society, so he made the"pre-modern"virtue he thought of that is relative to the modern society . Maclntyre's moral theory is a powerful weapon of modern criticism, this criticism theory of"retreat into marching"is twofold dimensions: on the historical dimension and valuable dimension. He solved the current issues in returing to history, not only made the idealistic goal but also made the realistic way . Maclntyre's moral thinking helps to awake us to re-examine the proper virtue, and also helps us to seriously consider Chinese modern issues in modernization construction and the moral issues.
