John Keats is an English outstanding romanticism poet in 19th Century, who is a key character connecting former and later in English poem, keeping prominent in world literature history. "Wordsworth and Coleridge are fathers of romanticism, then Byron makes influence of romanticism all over the world, and Shelley sees forward World of Great Harmony permeating romanticism. However, on absorbing elite from the predecessors and affecting posterity on art of poem, they work no more than Keats." The Chinese scholar Zuoliang Wang points out. This analysis is incisive and intensive, affirming contribution and history status of Keats adequately.The first chapter of this paper talks about John Keats' philosophy on life and death. It shows in the three aspects as follows: praise and cherish the life; death is the process of alternation of new and old and John Keats' outlook on freedom life. John Keats has deep affection to the nature. He places his deep perception of life on the nature's living beings. When we read John Keats' nature lyric, we can have an insight into John Keats' heart in which praise and cherish the life. He can find the beauty which is lack in the reality and the power against the terrible fate. At the same time, the poet understands the death is not so fearful from the life and the death of the nature's living beings and the replacement of social things. And John Keats also understands the death is a nature law which can't be changed by people's will. The poet realized that freedom and democracy were essential for human beings from his sufferings. Therefore, the poet pursued freedom and democracy all his life. In the second chapter, the author mainly talks concrete explanation in texts of John Keats' philosophy on life and death. Texts here mainly refer to Keats' letters and poems. In poems and letters which write to his friends and younger brothers and sisters, Keats expresses his comprehension to life and death. By reading these texts, readers can know clearly about the poet's heart and communicate with his soul. In the third chapter, the author talks about the reasons why Keats' philosophy on life and death formed, and the progress and improvement of Keats' literature art. Keats' philosophy on life and death is formed through joint affect of historical and cultural background and social actual context. These backgrounds are very complicated, and they influence Keats deeply. They make him form a special philosophy on life and death, and promote his progress and improvement of literature art.The brevity of John Keats' life likes a dazzle meteor. It is disappeared so swift, but he leaves a valuable heritage to posterity. The readers can understand this romanticism poet deeply and know the times which the poet lives profoundly by studying John Keats' philosophy on life and death.
