In September, 1979, several Marxist researchers who shared a common goal got together in London to discuss the exploitation question which they all cared. Afterward, they decided to meet every September for each year, with the topic no longer being restricted to the exploitation theory. These scholars were therefore called the"September Group". And for using the analytic philosophy as their theory tool, they were also called"the school of Analytical Marxism". From September, 1981,as the discussing scope was no longer limited to the exploitation theory, the attention spots of the members no longer unified, and they even held different views to all the questions. Therefore, questions were raised on whether they could compose a school in strict significance, and usually it was called"the Analytical Marxism".If inquiring carefully,we can easily find out that analytical Marxists'research is not in a state of disunity and out of order. As one of its founders——G.A.Cohen had acknowledged, the academic achievements of analytical Marxists more or less involved three questions: What kind of socialism do we pursue? Why do we want it or where is the fault of capitalism? How can we realize socialism? This paper mainly hackles and discusses the equality thought of analytical Marxism from these three angles. In the first part, taking equality as the important value of socialism, analytical Marxists answered the question what form of socialism we pursued. At least from the present reality, they thought what socialism surpassed capitalism was not that the economy was more developed, but that the society was more equal. They viewed the political philosophy of Marx's condemnation of capitalism as a kind of resource egalitarianism, and pointed out that the equal form of socialism was a kind of joint ownership. In the second part, analysis Marxists'exploitation, social class theory as well as the argument on Marx's altitude to equality and fairness, replied the question why we wanted this form of socialism or where the fault of capitalism was, from the level of scientific theory and morality. On one side, the exploitation relation and social class relate was essentially a kind of unequal social relationship. Using the analytic tool of microeconomic pattern of neoclassical economy, analytical Marxists proved the relationship between the inequality of people's initial property and exploitation as well as social class. On the other side, with the argument on whether Marx had moral condemnation to capitalism, analytical Marxists answered the question from the moral stratification plane. In the third part, analytical Marxists carried on the egalitarianism explanation to socialism, and then replied the question how we could realize socialism. After Soviet Union disintegrated, analytical Marxists reconsidered the Soviet Union socialism pattern, interpreted socialism to be a kind of egalitarianism, and put forward their own socialism pattern.
