Studies On The Syntactic And Semantic Rules Of Explanational Meta-language Of Junction Compound Nouns In Modern Chinese Dictionary

Meta-language,mentioned in the lexicography, refers to the definition language used to explain the terms collected by dictionary, namely, Explanational Meta-language. This thesis, taking nouns in Modern Chinese Dictionary(the 5th edition) as the object of study, analyses its interpretation pattern closedly and exhaustively, aiming to find out the syntactic and semantics rules between explanational meta-language of Nouns and the word being explained, thereby, finding the syntactic and semantic rules of explanational meta-language of Nouns, providing a little help for the study and lexicographic compilation of the dictionary.It couldn't classify the Pure Nouns deeply,and the explanational models are singlely, as result, we don't study it specially. On the other hand, this thesis only classfies the Compound Nouns which categories are marked, and analyses the syntactic and semantic of the explanational situation of Junction Compound Nouns, according to the principles of Meta-language.According to the statistics, there are 31057 Compound Nouns, the Junction Compound Nouns account for 86.4%. Therefore, it is important to study the Junction Compound Nouns. By the analysis, we conclude as following:Firstly, the main principle which Junction Compound Nouns follow:1. Iconicity principle. Iconicity, Means that there is an isomorphic relationship between the content, form as well as attribute of interpretation language and semanteme structure and form structure of the defined word. The explanation of Junction Compound Nouns in Modern Chinese Dictionary meet this principles, and account for 92.4% . This principle is important in the principle of explanational meta-language of Nouns.2. Systemic principle. In the dictionary, the interpretation style of All kinds of words keeps Paralled. Therefore, Systemic principle also candefined as Parallel principle. Parallel principle basically falls into the following aspects:(1) Speech-consistent Systemic principle. The subclass interpretation of the word should parallel according to syntax semanteme attribute.(2) The interpretation of the consistent semanteme structure wordsshould parallel.(3) The interpretation of the words with parallelled form and structure should parallel.(4) The identical all along structural word of language, applies to have identical significance ought to coincide.3. The principle of facilitate the interpretation. Sometimes, according to the first two principles, it may bring about some inconvenience in defining, even violating routines, such as circulation interpretation, violating prefix priority Interpretation and so on. Accordingly, convenient interpretation style ought to be adopted.4. Economy principle. That is to adopt the simplest way to interprete. Secondly, syntactic and semantic rules of explanational meta-language of Junction Compound Nouns are the following:1. Word explains word.This pattern is ecnomical and convenient, and can fall into three aspects: (1) junction compound noun explains it; (2) pure noun explains it; (3) other noun explains it. There are 2859 words use this method . The usual type is using Junction Compound Noun to explain Junction Compound Noun which account for 87.3% in Word explains Word method.2. Phrase explains word.This pattern can fall into three aspects, too: (1) junction compound phrase explains it, this pattern is the most important; (2) unite compound phrase explains it; (3) other compound phrase explains it. In this model, Junction Phrase is usually used, there are 25848,and there are only 1000 explanations which belongs to other model.3. Sentence explains word.This pattern can fall into four aspects: (1) explain; (2) deposit; (3) refer to other words;(4) show some relations.Thirdly, the explanation instruction words are very important, too. So,it's necessary to analyse them.Finally, we put forward the shortcomings in the paraphrase of the nouns in Modern Chinese Dictionary(the 5th edition).
