The disyllable and co-ordinated compound word is very important in Chinese vocabulary system. It is not only one of the six basic types in modern Chinese vocabulary, but also one of the earliest and largest types in ancient Chinese vocabulary. So it is very meaningful to analyses the disyllable and co-ordinated compound words comprehensively and deeply. For the moment, scholars’ study of disyllable and co-ordinated compound words most focused on ancient Chinese vocabulary and the form. The study of the meaning of the disyllable and co-ordinated compound words are lacked. However, the number of disyllable and co-ordinated compound words is very large. So we choose disyllable and co-ordinated compound words with noun-noun morphemes construction as the research object. In this article, we divided into four chapters:The first chapter is the definition of the disyllable and co-ordinated compound words with noun-noun morphemes construction. We have defined two concepts:the noun-morpheme and the disyllable and co-ordinated compound word. In this article, we identify the grammatical categories on the basis of morphemes’ meaning. So the noun-morpheme is the morpheme which stands for the name of people and articles, including time, places and directions. To judge the disyllable and should depends on two standards, the form and the meaning. If a word’s form is very similar to the co-ordinated compound word but the meaning is not co-ordinated, we should distinguish it carefully.The second chapter is the classification of the disyllable and co-ordinated compound words with noun-noun morphemes construction. According to the meaning of noun-morphemes, they can be divided to noun-morphemes standing for general concept, noun-morphemes standing for time and noun-morphemes standing for direction. According to the relationship of the meaning of noun-morphemes, they can be divided to the disyllable and co-ordinated compound words with two noun-morphemes whose meanings are the same, the disyllable and co-ordinated compound words with two noun-morphemes whose meanings are related and the disyllable and co-ordinated compound words with two noun-morphemes whose meanings are opposite. According to the relationship of the meaning of noun-morphemes and compound words, they can be divided to coincident co-ordinated compound words, combinational co-ordinated compound words and integrated co-ordinated compound words.The third chapter analyses the meanings of the disyllable and co-ordinated compound words. It included three parts:the semantic analysis of the relationship of the noun-morphemes, the semantic analysis of the relationship of noun-morphemes and compound words and the function of metaphor and metonymy in the development of the meaning of the disyllable and co-ordinated compound words. The emphasis is the function and types of metaphor and metonymy.The fourth chapter analyses the polysemous words in the disyllable and co-ordinated compound words with noun-noun morphemes construction. The polysemous words include general polysemous words, plural structure words and multi-category words. We analyses them respectively and discuss the reason for the production of the polysemous words in the disyllable and co-ordinated compound words with noun-noun morphemes.
