Marguerite Duras, 1914-1966, a famous contemporary female writer in France, displayed her rich artistic talent with her creation of over 70 novels, plays and films throughout her life, among which, her novels, in particular, were her representative creation with the unique personality charm and the ever-changing profile. However, there are a lot of misunderstandings for Duras and her works in the current domestic academia and the readers. Therefore, the author attempts to restore the original features of Duras'creation and to develop an evaluation of the overall outlook through thoroughly sorting out her fictions and microscopically analyzing the text. The article is composed of five parts:"Introduction"generalizes Duras'creation,"Duras craze", shortcomings of the domestic Duras study and the readers'misunderstandings, and explains the paper's outline and the author's purpose as well;"Chapter I"starts with the relationship between Duras'childhood experiences and her literature creation, and studies the far-reaching influence of her traumatic childhood experience on the creative causes, the content and style of her works;"Chapter II"discusses the personal characteristics of Duras'novels—the self-written and the core theme—desires, and analyzes their deep meanings;"Chapter III"highlights Duras'unremitting exploration in her creative practice, and probes into the artistic style and poetic features of her novels;"Conclusion"summarizes the overall style and artistic characteristics of Duras'novel creation, evaluate its unique value and significance, and displays a "factual" Duras.
