Margaret Duras(1914—1996),formerly known as Margaret Donadio,was born in French Indochina,and she is a famous contemporary female novelist in France.Since 1950,she has created three autobiographical novels,Un barrage contre le Pacifique(1950),L'amant(1984)and L'amant de la Chine du Nord(1991),which are also known as the "lover" series trilogy.The three novels told the same story: in a faraway French Indochina,a white girl met her exotic lover and produced an unforgettable first love affair.Duras' spiritual exploration paid attention to the inner world of the characters,and clearly analyzed the same story she wrote in different periods.Sigmund Freud,the founder of psychoanalysis theory,and Duras lived in the adjacent era.Although they were born in different countries and focused on different fields,but the characters and methods created by Duras and Freud's theories of literary creation reflect the similarities between the study of the psychological world.Moreover,psychoanalysis was also one of the most important literary theories in the 20 th century,which has a profound influence on Western literature.Based on Freud's psychoanalysis theory,the theory of repression,personality structure and libido,this paper makes an in-depth interpretation of the characters in Duras' "lover" series of novels,studies the inner psychological motivation of Duras' creation of these main characters,and explores the unique artistic value in shaping them.This paper consists of three parts: preface,body and conclusion.In the foreword,it mainly combs the works of Duras and summarizes the current situation of Duras research in China and abroad expounds the purpose and significance of this paper,and summaries the research methods and innovations of the topics.The main body consists of three chapters:The first chapter analyzes the main characters in the "lover" series of novels from the perspective of psychoanalysis theory.This chapter borrows the concepts of repression,personality theory and libido theory from Freud's psychoanalysis,and puts the typical characters in the series of novels,the images of mothers,the white girls,and the lovers,in the above theoretical framework to re-analyze,analyzing the unusual behavior and performance of the characters in the novel.The second chapter is the motivation of the characters in the series of novels written byDuras.Starting with the region where Duras lived from an early age,the cultural atmosphere she felt,her childhood and childhood family situation and life experience,this paper reveals that Duras' life in her youth is the source and transformation of her subconscious depression,and is also the inspiration source of her series of novels,which are inseparable from each other.The third chapter expounds the artistic value of the main characters in Duras' "lover" series of novels.Duras was defined as a "new novelist" by the French critics,which is inseparable from her unique writing technique.From the beginning to the old age,Duras still repeatedly rewrites the lover's story,restoring the characters,and the artistic technique of repeated writing has become one of the characteristics of her style.Based on the theory of psychoanalysis,this paper excavates the inner desire of Duras as a creator,explores the version art of Duras' repetitive writing and her self construction as a female writer,analyzes the influence of her unique writing technique on Chinese writers,and expounds the artistic value of portraying the main characters of Duras' "lover" series of novels.The conclusion will summarize the full paper.By using Freud's psychoanalysis method to interpret the spiritual aspects of the main characters in Duras' “lover” series of novels,this paper studies the inner psychological motivation of Duras' creation of these characters,and explores the literary and artistic value of Duras in shaping these characters.
