"Interpretation Of The Koran" And The Construction Of Harmonious Society

It is a long process to lead religion being accustomed to socialism, which is the very important theoretical policy and practical issue. In the social context and historical course of making great efforts to construct nationwide harmonious society in China, the Chinese Islamic circles take the initiative to the cause of"Interpretation of the Koran"by implementation of"New Sermon"in order to respond this policy. The cause of"Interpretation of the Koran"is an in-depth measure to adapt Chinese Islam to socialism actively, which is the internal requirement for the Chinese Islam to be in light with the social development and with time spirit. It has a positive meaning to our country's overall development and the harmonious society construction, especially it has a far-reaching historical meaning and practical effect on Chinese Muslims.With the cause of"Interpretation of the Koran"of Chinese Islam as the main theme, this work is a research result treating about the sermons of Imam Bai Runsheng in Shanghai as the case study, mainly using the fieldwork of religious anthropology and sociology to investigate on the spot, and doing the review and analysis afterward. As the outstanding Imam of Shanghai, Imam Bai has a very good level of understanding the Koran and Hadith profoundly, which represents the level of Shanghai and even in the Chinese Islamic circles. His thought and practice concerning Islam have great impact on Shanghai Muslims'religious conception and behavior etc.Firstly, the paper describes the function and meaning of the Interpretation of the Koran to Muslim society, and the general situation of Islam in Shanghai. Then it comes to the main content body of the paper. It is divided into six sub-subjects to discuss the thought and practice of Imam Bai's Interpretation of the Koran. They are important issues respectively dealing with about the ethical unity and the stability and harmony of society, the upgrading of Muslims'morality, strengthening Muslims'legal system conception, advancing Muslims'culture, education and overall development, pushing Muslims'science, technology and economy, protecting environment and finally keeping sustainable development. Most of the sub-subjects combine with Muslims'reality and enclosed relevant case analysis. The paper makes a brief illumination on the great efforts and social work of the Islamic circles in Shanghai during the new period of building the harmonious society.
