| In recent few decades, the translation study becomes a more independent discipline which to a great extent involves varied theories in other fields. Reviewing the history of the development, the translation study has undergone three different periods, including the philological translation paradigm, the structuralism translation paradigm and the deconstructive translation paradigm.In the first chapter of the thesis, there is a brief review of the philological translation paradigm. The philological translation paradigm concerns about the different meanings, the temperaments and the sentimental atmospheres of words and sentences. However, this paradigm is based on translator's intuition and inspiration which are not a rational and theoretical foundation. The second chapter is a thorough analysis of the structuralism translation paradigm. This paradigm brings the translation into the theoretical and systematical period and opens an objective field of version. However, structuralism translation paradigm completely dispels the translator's subjectivity and over emphasizes the objectivity as well as the structure of different languages. In this paradigm, the translation is merely a monologue. The third chapter is a deep exploration into the deconstructive translation theory. The deconstructive translation paradigm changes the translation activity from monologue to dialogue, which forms the great contribution in translation history. However, the limitation of this theory lies in that different translators may generate different dialogues from the same text. Without any limitation or consideration of cultural background, the meaning generated from this dialogue is too arbitrary. The above comparison of the three translation paradigms clearly indicates that none of them can be an appropriate methodology to further develop translation study.In the fourth chapter, taking Gadamer's philosophical hermeneutics as a breakthrough point, this paper mainly concerns about whether there is "fusion of horizons" among the subjects involved in the translation process. It also cares about how to undertake the "dialogue" in deconstructive translation paradigm. Based on this analysis, the author further points out the limitations of the "dialogism" in deconstructive translation paradigm and exerts a new exploration into the "dialogism" in the light of constructivist translation paradigm.To follow the development of the translation studies, scholars in translation field begin to search for more practical and reasonable paradigms. Of their findings, the author of this thesis considers that Professor Lv Jun's constructivist translation paradigm is the most prominent one. This new paradigm takes Habermas' communicative action theory as its theoretical basis and offers researchers a new version. In light of this paradigm, the translation finally turns into a cross-cultural communication. |
