As a famous literator in the Ming Dynasty, Wang Shenzhong took the lead of the School of Tangsong and raised his theory on poems and essays under the influence of the Yang'ming Xin Xue. According to Wang, essays writing shall take the mode of OuYang Xiu and Zeng'gong, by expressing the author's true emotion and personal experiences, paying special attention to constructive designing and decorating of the words. Meanwhile, poems writing shall follow the literary style of the Tang Dynasty, keeping creative and proper as well. Wang's theory became the foundation for the flourishing of the School of Tangsong, and greatly influenced the coming other schools, such as the school of Gong'an, the Jingling, or even the Tongcheng in the Qing Dynasty. His essays are abundant in content, multiform in style, emotional and easy to understand, while his poems are fresh and simple, always changing according to different topics.This thesis contains the following four parts:1.Brief introduction on time and culture backgrounds; Wang Shenzhong's biographical thoughts.2.Comments on the characteristics of Wang Shenzhong's essays, based upon his literary works and theories.3.Review and analysis of Wang Shenzhong's different poems, including poems of landscapes, rurality and history.4.Conclusion on Wang Shenzhong's literary theories and influences.
