A Brief Discussion On Spreading History Of Tibet Buddhism In Mountain Wutai Region From Dynasty Song On

The Mountain Wutai is the only Buddhism sacred place with Sino-Tibetan existing together inland. The introduction of the Tibet Buddhism is of historical significance to the Mountain Wutai. By digging into and comparing the documents of Sino-Tibetan this thesis dissertates mainly on three aspects. First, it dissertates deeply on the hierarches of Tibet Buddhism and their context. Second, it checks and dissertates in detail the temples which are interrelated with the hierarches of Tibet Buddhism in the Mountain Wutai. Third, it analyzes deeply the effects of the introduction of the Tibet Buddhism to this area. This thesis is to restore the original visage that Tibet Buddhism's transmitting into the Mountain Wutai.The conclusion: The introduction of the Tibet Buddhism makes the Mountain Wutai become the only Buddhism sacred place with Sino-Tibetan existing together inland, and with temples of Chinese Buddism and Tibet Buddhism. The hierarches of Tibet Buddhism pilgrimaged brought the tenet of Tibet Buddhism to the Mountain Wutai, and makes the Buddhism of the Mountain Wutai take on the multiplex situation. Because every dynastic emperors supported Tibet Buddhism, pilgrimaged frequently the Mountain Wutai and took ten temples of Chinese Buddhism to the temples of Tibet Buddhism. Thus, the temples of the Mountain Wutai took on the grand occasion with the temples of Chinese Buddhism and Tibet Buddhism. In four famous Buddhist Mountains of China, there are such appellations: golden Mountain Wutai, argent Mountain Emei, patina Mountain Putuo, ferric Mountain Jiuhua. The Mountain Wutai ranks the first in four famous Buddhist Mountains of China.
