A Preliminary Study On The Urban Historical Geography Of Fuzhou

Fuzhou is a famous city with its long history. It is located in the Fuzhou basin, in front of the mountains, approaches the minjiang river, i.e. its geographical position is advantageous. In the ancient times ,it was "the prosperous region in the southeast", "the lucky place". Based on the collection related historic information about the Fuzhou city and the research results of the predecessors and the people of our time ,this thesis conducts the research of the Urban Historical Geography of Fuzhou preliminarily. It consists of five parts:The first part mainly introduced this topic's motivation, the object of study, the present research actuality of domestic and foreign in the matter and the difficult problem which needs to break through.From the macroscopic aspect, the second part introduced the physical geography factors and human geography factors that influence the foundation and development of Fuzhou.The third part introduced Fuzhou's internal spatial structure in ancient times and summarized the Fuzhou urban development and the planar configuration characteristic throughout history.The fourth part, on the foundation of the two chapters above, has analyzed the urban development restriction factors of Fuzhou during historical period.Finally, in view of present Fuzhou urban construction and the development present situation, the thesis points out the main matters in the present fast urbanized process, and put forward several proposals to the future urban development of Fuzhou.
