| The English introductions of Chinese tourist attractions, mostly written by Chinese, are unsatisfying in their quality for English-speaking foreign visitors. In order to find the reason for this problem, this thesis will firstly set up the reference standard from the stylistic features of the paralleled texts from UK and US, then compare the two groups of texts (UK&US vs. China) and examine the stylistic differences between them, and therefore identify in which ways we can improve the unsatisfying texts.The research, with Halliday's Systemic Functional Linguistics as its theoretic foundation, will adopt quantitative approach to go through the items in three phases—graphological, grammatical and lexical (including the length of paragraph, sentence and word, transitivity process, clause complex, mood system, thematic structure, adjective, proper noun and numeral), to detect the prominences through statistical analysis, and identify the motivated stylistic features with the context of situation (field, tenor and mode of the register).The findings of the research demonstrate that, the English introductions of Chinese tourist attractions are different in paragraphing, transitivity process, adjectives and other fields compared with their parallels from UK and US. This result, in the writer's view, can provide guidance for the improvement of English introductions of Chinese tourist attractions.
