An Analysis Of Police Notification Texts On Weibo From The Perspective Of Systemic Functional Linguistics

The police notifications,which are posted on Weibo by the public security organizations,play an important role in restoring the truth,guiding the public opinion and establishing the public security image.However,the related linguistic research is almost blank.Based on Halliday's three Meta-functions theory,this paper contrasts and analyzes the police notification texts on Weibo,exploring how the theory is applied and distributed among these texts.This paper combines quantitative and qualitative research methods in order to conduct statistical research on it.And it combines the functions and characteristics of the police notification texts on Weibo to explain the statistical results.This thesis consists of five chapters.The first chapter introduces the objection,the task,the method and the value of the study.Furthermore,chapter one reviews the former researches on the police notifications and the text analysis.The second chapter discusses the ideational meta-function of the police notification texts on Weibo from four aspects: transitivity,circumstantial elements,voice and logical function.The third chapter discusses the interpersonal meta-function of the police notification texts on Weibo from three aspects: speech function,mood system and modality system.The forth chapter discusses the textual meta-function of the police notification texts on Weibo from one aspect: the thematic structure.The fifth chapter makes a conclusion.This paper studies the police notification texts on Weibo from the perspective of systemic functional linguistics,in order to enlighten the writing and interpretation of the police notifications posted on Weibo.
