By adopting A.J.Greymase's structuralist narration theory, the thesis analyzes Lady Chatterley's Lover and The Half of the Man is the Woman, of D.H.Lawrence and Zhang Xianliang, they both are of considerable influence, we can discover the common "hurt-retrieval" structure and their retrieval strategy spontaneously adopted the same sexual manner in their works despite their different cultural backgrounds. In accordance with Yangyi's point in Chinese Narratology, "the structure not only governs narrative procedure internally, but also, externally, points to the experience and philosophy of the writer", the thesis analyzes the common experience and spiritual appeal of the two writers from different historical backgrounds.Through careful study, a tentative conclusion has been made: the characters in both novels face the surviving crisis that the suppression of external civilized environment on human vitality makes their inner-construction completely impossible, which lead the two writers both to choose using the poetic strategy of sex to reconstruct and perfect the characters in order to diminish the living predicament. The thesis analyzes the reasons for their common narrative patterns and the solution to the encountered problems according to the viewpoints "all literature creating and experience are unified" of Rene Wellek and "the consolidation of all literature creating and experience is caused firstly by the unification of the problems and difficulties people are facing " of Yue Daiyun, So as to comply with the tenet of comparative literature "seeking commence while admitting difference". we hope to discover some of their common essence, and to seek their common idea, psychology and emotional experiences through the differences between Chinese and Western culture.
