The Study Of Non-specialization Of Meanings Of Cants After Reform And Opening

Cants are usually used in all sorts of trades and technology. With their univocity and specialization, cants'use range is very narrow, which make them have little value to deep research. But, since reform and opening policy, great changes have taken placed in society, peoples'ideas and thought pattern. By the influence of the development of economy and technology, some cants yield now non-specific meanings and become new words through non-specialization of meanings of words, which make more and more scholars become interested in studying cants.From the following aspects, the paper analyzes and studies non-specialization of meanings of cants.The first chapter summarized the precious research work, points out the significance and purpose research, and also indicates the research method and the source of corpus data. The second chapter defines cants and non-specialization of meanings of words, especially indicates the differences between non-specialization of meanings of words with amplification of the meanings of words, neology and grammaticalization of words'meanings.The third chapter describes the characteristics of cants, such as: univocity, specialization dependency, small use scope. Cants are usually informational words with hierarchy and their word-building way is always attributive structure. From the view of pragmatic, syntax and semantic, this chapter also describes the appearances of non-specialization of meanings of cants and their present situation and characteristics.The forth chapter analyses the two approaches of non-specialization of meanings of cants: metaphor and extension. Based on this analysis, this chapter explores the deep mechanism of non-specialization of meanings of cants, which is metaphor in cognitive linguistics.The fifth chapter explores the dynamic process of non-specialization of meanings of cants from the aspects of lexical meaning and sememe.The sixth chapter analyses the causes and functions of non-specialization of meanings of cants from both internal and external view of language. And the chapter also predicts the prospect of non-specialization of meanings of cants.
