This article consist of two parts. Part one was about investigations, with three chapters. Chapter one started from an investigation on the evolvement of the titles of poems before Ji Dynasty, and arrived at the conclusion that, Ruan Ji didn't give any title to his Poems on Aspiration when he wrote them but was given by the later generations; the Poem on Hero was lost and was not included in the Poems on Aspiration. Chapter two was a discussion on whether the Poems on Aspiration were a set of poems or not, with the conclusion that the Poems on Aspiration were"finished following his inclinations"but not a set of poems. Chapter three was an investigation on the theories of"source an course", with the conclusion that"Ruan Ji's poetry was descended from Xiao Ya", which was said by Zhong Rong, focused on the"styles"of poetry; with an interpretation to the entry of Ruan Ji in Shi Pin.Part two was about discussions, with three chapters. Chapter four corrected the misunderstanding that Ruan Ji was loyal to Wei, based on an investigation on the inclination on politics of Ruan Ji and a research on the reason why Ruan Ji attached himself to SiMa family, which gave a foundation for researching on Ruan Ji's Poems on Aspiration. Chapter five interpreted the phenomenon that interpreting Ruan Ji's poetry with the politics between Wei and Jin which was started by"the five officials", based on an investigation on the tradition of interpreting Shi and Sao, and pointed out that the special art of composition and his confusion in using literary quotations were the main reason why"the purpose of Ruan Ji's poetry is deep". Chapter six was a research on the content and structure of Ruan Ji's Poems on Aspiration with four characters to a line, based on the investigation into document and the comparison to Ruan Ji's Poems on Aspiration with five characters to a line.
