In Chinese modern literature history, the countryside was an important writing object, because of the long agricultural history in China as well as its unique aesthetic characteristics. Therefore various forms of literature were written about countryside. It goes without saying that Anyi Wang is one of the representations of Chinese modern literature, considering her mass-quantity and high-quality writing as well as her variety in style. Trying to beyond herself all the times, AnYi Wang is famous as an Educated Youth Writer, a Search-for-Roots writer, a Shanghai-style writer, and now an outstanding authority. As a distinctive writer who has a great influence on contemporary literary, her shifts of writing style and focus require a good summary. We can see AnYi Wang's improvements as well as her psychological changes through her twice-selection of countryside as the background. What's important is that, we can point out her suggestions and contributions to Chinese literary circle based on the summary of her developments in style .Her first looking-back of countryside is in the Search-for-Roots novels like Village Xiaobao. Here, countryside is only a carrier of Anyi Wang's overview and understanding of"Chinese experience", in the light of her rational thoughts. Her second looking-back of countryside returned to original primitive novels. The countryside was written as an independent object. Her attitude to countryside, changed from self-estrangement in the 1908's to fascination in 1990's, was used to express Anyi Wang's moral choice in the clash of two civilizations. Through the works of Anyi Wang, we can feel the anxiety and choices of the writers at the transformation of civilizations.Comparing her works at 80's with those at 90's and studying the shifts of her writing styles, we can find out that the contemporary writers, represented by Anyi Wang, used to pursue the ideal conscientiously in 1980's, but lost themselves in 1990's, at the transformation of civilizations. The return from"countryside meta- fiction"to"countryside indigenous-fiction"revealed the writer's eager for a spiritual home when she faced with social and cultural dilemmas, and her doubts about the"modernization"in modern Chinese society as well as her weakness to face the reality of the countryside in China.
