Pearl, a controversial American woman writer who won Nobel Prize Of Literature because of he Chinese works. She contributed her life to communication of China and America, especially the spread of Chinese culture, But it was a pity she was not accepted by either of them in identity, in literature , in politics. There are some very complicated reasons for her embarrassment. In sociology, the aspect of"role theory"will widen her study and make us realize the urgency and importance of understanding of cultures , thus such tragedy will be avoided. In her age , there was a great gap between Chinese culture and American culture. In order to change Americans'prejudice to Chinese and Chinese culture, she described ordinary Chinese and their family life, revealing cultural background and history origin of their ideas and actions. She spread her ideas in her works, in her religion, in her social activities and made herself a bridge successfully. It was her works that made many Americans begin to understand Chinese and its culture.Despite her great contributions to the communications of culture, Pearl was a tragedy , which arose from different expectations of America and China as well. She suffered a lot from that. She had to face the conflicts in herself and from two societies. She was a sensitive woman and a responsible writer. Through her keen insight and minute feelings, we see the sufferings ,conflicts and expectations of a cultural migrant. She was a fortune's favorite of mix-culture and a victim of it's misunderstanding. She tried to find her spirit hometown in her works.
