Since Lu Xun's "A brief history of Chinese novels ", the research of Ming Dynasty on Zhiguai fiction has the congenital insufficiency. Lu Xun had said that"the subject matter and artistic conception is like the Tang Dynasty, the style of writings is tedious and feeble, but plasters the boudoir sentiment, brings forward the colorful language, so welcomed and imitate one after another by people, as for the prohibition, its vogue beginning fades"in a few words, have described the legend of the history of 276 years, and confirmed as transition and intermediary of Legends of the Tang Dynasty and Legend Story of Liao Zhai. Then the later novel history, the history of literature research, generally limited to the outmoded practice, follow Lu Xun's statement, speaking is restricted in the outmoded rules and regulations, did not go out of the Lu Xun's View. But the Ming Dynasty how to reach this kind of transition, remained as a historical problem, not answered by the novel history and the history of literature.The golden age of Zhiguai fiction in Our country , is the Wei Jin time. To the Ming Dynasty, as a result of the Song Yuan popular stories'influence, the time development and person's value, the popular novel obtains the unprecedented development. Compare with that, the ghost tales'splendor is reduced greatly, mostly the plot is narrated fantastically simply, there are many tales ,but the desirable one is very few, so people seldom paid attention to them. since Lu Xun confirmed it as transition and intermediary of Legends of the Tang Dynasty and Legend Story of Liao Zhai,and agreed by academician, then the question is necessary to study. "Geng Si Bian" compiled the hearsay story from Hong wu to zheng de. Although there are many mediocre work, it also has considerable tales, in the murky time of Zhiguai fiction in the Ming Dynasty, we may say it is a quite outstanding work, the researcher pay little attention to it.This article namely based on above consideration, studies and uses the senior eminent scholars the research technique and the achievement, appraises and coordinates the "Geng Si Bian ", I hope that can have a quite good assurance to it, proposes the imperfect idea in the inquisition process.Makes concrete to various chapters: The introduction part, have an overall understanding on Zhiguai fiction, grasping the concept and the literary style characteristic; Solves the question which have puzzled many time, the stylistically ownership of the Zhiguai fiction, according to Mr. Chen's research results, rank it into novels writing in classical Chinese and note novels ; and introduces the reason of the topic. First chapter, begins from the existing material, seeing about all Lu Can's life, the edition situation and the book in circulation time, carries on the classification to the story, divides into three types: First, gods, ghosts and hobgoblins; Second, apotheosize the prince of the blood, the writer; Third, strange people (including physiognomist, handyman in buddhist temple, eminent monk, witch). Have a deep explanation to each type. Second chapter, analyzes the cultural value of "Geng Si Bian", from the historical data, religious and the folk belief, the entertainment and the unusual geography phenomenon. Third chapter, discusses its literature value emphatically from four aspects:the narrative characteristic, the time characteristic performance, the residential interest expression and the style. Fourth chapter, analyzes the influence and the significance macroscopically.
