Research On Design Elements And Aesthetic Laws Of Banpo Pottery

The Banpo pottery of early Yangshao culture, such as jars, bowls, bottles, pots and so on, are with distinct features, widely distributed and far-reaching impact. It was important in Chinese artifacts cultural history, and it was the best case to examine the prehistoric artifacts design and culture. In order to better inherit and absorb the traditional cultural elements of banpo pottery, and to provide powerful guide for"design localization"of modern product design, the design elements and aesthetic laws of Banpo pottery were carefully studied.Lots of archaeological information and pictures were quoted; the three major design elements that of function, form and technique were analysed in-depth. Many indicating pictures were carefully drawn, which strongly proved that there were aesthetics laws such as symmetry, rough symmetry, radial balance, balance, repeat, continuation, gradual change, rhythm, specificity, integer ratio, root sign ratio, and golden ratio etc in the shape or decoration of Banpo pottery.
