A Debase On Intellect

This paper mainly discusses Aristole's intellect problem and the commentators'views, at the same time give a stress to Thomas'viewpoint. Thomas'point of view is on the basis of Arostole's theory. During the process of solving the problem left by Austin and the crisis of Averroes, he displays a lot of advanced ideas, which brightened the darkness of that time. Although these great ideas was darkened by such views, such as"the immaterialism of intellect"and"personal intellect is eternal", but his creativeness to solve the problem still set a good example to us. And his theory of intellect still has an influence today. As to the history of Christine, Thomas is a reformer. He discards Platonism that was supported by Augustine, and adopts Aristole's theory that was popular at that time.This paper consists of five parts. The first part mainly discusses nous philosophy and the meaning to study this subject at nowadays. The second part displays Aristole's theory and the problem he had left about intellect. The third part tells how the commentators look at the problem. The fourth part is Thomas'viewpoint. And this part is the main part of the paper. The last part is a conclusion.
