During the Ming and Qing dynasties, Lingqing city in Shangdong province flourished, benefitting from the Grand Canal transport. Lingqing customs post(also named QueGuan) was sent to Linqing to supervise revenue collection by central government during those periods. Up to now, Lingqing customs post has been an important national culture heritage unit.At present,it's the only old site which preserves original appearance in our country, so it's a key to study economic and social history of Ming and Qing dynasties. The purpose of the thesis is to investigate the relation between Lingqing customs post and the local economy and culture,analyze the characteristics of the customs post system and summarize the general introduction of its culture, which is helpful for protecting and exploiting its culture. The study is also significant for Grand Canal to apply for world cultural heritage.The thesis includes seven parts.Part one:It is the preface,which summarizes the significance of the selected topic and and the achievements made by the academia cicles,the main idea and outline..Part two: It states the process of Lingqing city flourishing with water transport of grain in the Ming and Qing dynasties,reviews the establishment and development of the Linqing customs post ,and its function.Part three: It states personnel management system and tax collection system of Linqing customs post briefly. It investigates official's system and some influential officials and discusses the features of Linqing customs revenue and tax rules, etc.Part four: It discourses the relation between Lingqing customs post and the local economy, mainly including the influence on local business brought by Linqing customs post, the development of Linqing commodity economy and a corresponding rise in revenue from the Ming dynasty to the middle of Qing dynasty. It also states the decline of the local economy and sharp decrease of revenue of Linqing customs post after the middle of Qing dynasty.Part five: It researches some existing tablets of the Ming and Qing Dynasties in Lingqing customs post, mainly including the tablet of moral policy preface by official Li served in Ji Department, which reflects the buninesss idea "simple laws attract bussinessmen while strict laws excule bussinessmen" and the tablet about divine doctrine by martyr Wang Chaozuo, which reflects Lingqing citizens'fights against tax..Part six: It arranges the related contents in poems and novels of Ming and Qing Dynasties, in order to reflect history according to literature. It also view the customs post from different angles,which emphasizes the key role Linqing customs post played during that time.Part seven: It is the epilogue. It summaries further the relation between Linqing customs post and the local economy, emphasizes the important position of Linqing customs post in China tax history and designs a blueprint for spreading the culture of the customs post and promoting the development of tourism.
