Chapter One deals with the formation of Yu Dafu's literary concept, exploring the development of his outgoing, romantic and lyric writing style from the background of the times, the trends of thought in culture, and family background. Chapter Two is about Yu Dafu's view on the nature of literature and art, comments and analyzes the modernity of his literary and artistic concepts from the perspective of "the liberation of individuality". Chapter Three addresses the transformation of Yu Dafu's idea about the function of literature and art, mainly elaborating that there exists a track of transformation from "art for art's sake " to discipline and then to the tendency of political utilitarianism in his literary values.
