From historical and realistic point of view, this dissertation reviews the history of Karen nation-separatism movement, especially the course of the Karen nation-separatism movement since the independence of Burma. The paper tries to find out the momentum of Karen nation-separatism movement, along with its development, bloom and decline. Through the analysis of the historical facts, it turns out that culture is the most important factor in Karen nation-separatism movement .The article tries to bring deeper reflection on the Burma's national issue.The first chapter expounds the reasons why the article selects this topic, defines the concepts relevant to the topic, and reviews the situation of academic researches relating to the subject of the thesis.The second chapter gives a brief about Burmese nations and Karens, and prepares for further study.The third and forth chapters are the major parts of the thesis. The third chapter primarily analyzes the influence of culture on the Karen nation-separatism movement, recounts the course of Karen separation movement and countermeasures of Burma government.The forth chapter is the core of this paper. From inside and outside, it primarily analyzes the factors which led Karen nation-separatism movement to decline. The paper concludes the diversity of Karen culture led Karen nation-separatism movement to decline.The conclusion is the last chapter. It is a summary of the whole dissertation. At the same time, it makes the reflection on Karen nation-separatism movement and brings resolution to the Burmese nation deadlock.
