Cai Yan And "Hujia Eighteen Meters"

Cai yan was a very important female writer in Chinese literature. She was good at writing poems, calligraphy and temperament, but suffered a lot at that turbulent period of history. Only three of her works handed down from history. "hujia eighteen meters" desribs her tragic experiences of captured by Hu ethnic minority and returning to Han Dynasty. She created a moving tragic image in this poem.In this article, we discuss the poem and the tune of "hujia eighteen meters" , trying to highlight their development trail. We find that both of them were adapted by someone later. We can also find that music plays a great important role in this process. In addition, gender analysis and discourse analysis can help us confirm these conclusions.
