This article studies the rhetoric of the realistic officialdom novel by WangYuewen, a contemporary writer.In the introduction part (chapter 1), the writer orderly sums up the studying achievements of officialdom novels by predecessors, and present the viewpoint and the significance of this article as well as the train of thought in studying. The second part (chapter2) concisely explains the Chinese officialdom culture as well as the rhetoric of the officialdom novels of WangYuewen. The third part (chapter 3-4) studies the portray of dialogue between the people in WangYuewen's officialdom novel, and concludes the peculiarity of their dialogue, that is, implicit authorities, comprehension of savvies, punctiliousness as well as complicated thoughts, and these peculiarities of their dialogue were due to the influence of the traditional officialdom culture. The fourth part (chapter 5) studies the description of behaviors of the people in WangYuewen's officialdom novel, and finds out that the "official standard" thought and striped-pants characteristic were lurk in their behaviors. The fifth part (chaper6) studies the description of mentality of the people in WangYuewen's novel, and concludes that the undulating mentality is closely related to the officialdom.
