Compounding is the most important method of form new words inmodern Chinese, and derivation is a supplement, and there is no unanimous conclusion about the standard of the principles of distinguishing affix and root.On the basis of the researches of predecessors, the thesis expounds and analyze judging principles proposed by predecessors, we adopts some and gets rid of some, and then summarizes a set of effective judging principles, and leads into quasi-affix, makes the principles of judging root, affix and quasi-affix much more clear through using the theories of grammaticalization and the theory of latency and appearance.The thesis is divided into seven parts: The first part begins with the concepts of affix and root, brings forward the topic, and point out the current studying status, and the value of the thesis; The second part describes the origin of affix,emergence of the reason and the kinds of the affix ;The third part discusses the judging principles proposed by predecessors and makes a choice on the basis of the researches of predecessors; The fourth part brings forward the concept of quasi-affix, and expounds it through grammaticalization-theory, and combining with the predecessors' researches mainly discusses the judging principles of the quasi-affix and points out the typical characteristics of quasi-affix. The fifth part analyzes the affix and quasi-affix that come from Chinese and then points out the distinction of binary syllabification-affix and overlapping of adjective.The sixth part analyzes and confirms quasi-affix of borrowed words through judging principles of quasi-affix. The seventh part is the conclusion, with the application of fuzzing linguistics-theory, latency and appearance-theory, philosophy, grammarization-theory, which makes a forecast about the development of affix and quasi-affix, and points out the problems in practice.
