Ding Ling was the final woman writer of the "May 4th", and she was also the first left-wing woman writer. Both Ding Ling and her works are important in analyzing the Modern and Contemporary Chinese Literature. The thesis focuses on Ding Ling's novels from the time she published her first works to her arriving in Baoan, the first period (1927-1936) of her creation. This period is also called "Ding Ling's works in the 1920s and 1930s".The internal and external causes leaded to Ding Ling's transformation and the change of her works. Ding Ling's transformation was unique and important for her, compared to other writers in her period, and was important for the study of left-wing literature and female literature.This paper explores the phenomenon, causes, and impacts of Ding Ling's transformation by analyzing Ding Ling's works (including historical documents and memoirs), to give an objective evaluation of Ding Ling's transformation and her works in the 1920s and 30s. The paper is composed by three parts: Firstly, research the track of Ding Ling's transformation and the concrete embodiment in the text. It can be found by comparative reading that the author's writing motive, content, writing manner, and the ending of novels are changed obviously after her transformation. Secondly, trace back to historical context for exploring the reasons of this phenomenon. Ding Ling's transition is unique, the life background, Left wing Association system, reviews are external causes, her personal emotions and creativity are internal causes. Finally, analyzes the historical position and significance of this phenomenon by probing the position and significance of Ding Ling's transformation in the left-wing literary history and the history of female literature. The thesis also summarizes the impact on Ding Ling's personal creative history, trying to restore the authenticity of Ding Ling's works and a real Ding Ling.
