Master Hsu Yun was one of the important figures in modern Buddhism history. He was a devout Buddhist through his life, with the belief of promoting Zen and carrying on Dharma, he participated in the rehabilitation of Buddhist reform movement for the revival of Zen Buddhist and devoted himself to the development of Buddhism. At present, the research on Master Hsu Yun in the domestic and foreign academic field is at its initial stage, so I have not found an official publication of the research on monograph Master Hsu Yun, only collecting some of the Buddhist Master Hsu Yun's thesis, which published mainly by domestic scholars. In terms of the collected thesis, I have not found a systematic study on the Buddhist Master Hsu Yun's paper. Based on this, I managed to exproling. The Zen idea of Hsu Yun mainly embodied on his words, which compiled in the book The complete works of Master Hsu Yun. I mainly based on the book and collected the relevant papers, to take literature study and comprehensive analysis and other methods thought to be the master of the Hsu Yun carding system. In the research process involved in thinking of other important figures in the comparative study of the main methods used to identify. In the above methods under the guidance of Zen Master Hsu Yun, I conducted a preliminary system of inductive thinking. After continuous in-depth research, I had a rough grasp on the thought of the Zen Master Hsu Yun. In my opinion, the most significant feature is harmonious without affecting, which is the inner essence of Buddhism, mainly inflected in Sutras classics. Master Hsu Yun vigorous advocated Zen and widely promoted Satras, initiated grasping Zen by teaching Sutras classics. He studied Avatamsaka, annotated Leng Yan and researched Fa Hua, deeply understanding the significance of harmonious without affecting in Buddhism. He insisted on the equality among Buddhism groups and the obvious differences between Buddhist doctrine and worldly doctrine. Practitioners should possess careful observation and intellectual behavior, indulging oneself and never greedy for Dharma.Having systematically considered, Zen thoughts of Hsu Yun mainly included three aspects: ideas of comprehending Zen, ideas of cultivating Zen and purity, ideas of agricultural and industrial Zen. In my opinion, the Zen ideas of Hsu Yun not only carried on predecessors, but also had creation. In terms of ideas of comprehending Zen, Hsu Yun carried on that of Master Zongguo- Hanshandeqing, mainly focused on the Buddhism ways of viewing "who is Buddha", paid attention to comprehending affairs according to Zen and emphasized on giving up worldly destiny, focusing on a single thought, and then looked through Zen, purified heart and showed characteristics as well, thus one could be aware of his original features. In the case of ideas of cultivating Zen and purity, Master Hsu Yun first criticized the debating behavior between thousands-of-year Zen and Pure Land Buddhism. And to trace to its source pointed out that the arguers who focused on "four simple materials", not only disappointed Manjusri, but also implicated Zen Master Yong Ming. Hsu Yun regarded the key to be the Buddha is to read Buddhism and comprehend Zen, which have no better on each other, whose relationship is as same as that between disease and medicine. On the part of long-term monk, both Buddhism and Zen are the ways to be a Buddha. His ideas of cultivating Zen and purity inherited from the theory of Amitabha, and based on the ideas of Deqing Buddha who advocated reading Sutras and researching classics, meanwhile, he carried forward Yunqi Zhuhong's Buddha Zen thought. In terms of ideas of agricultural and industrial Zen, Master Hsu Yun inherited the agricultural Zen thought of Master Baizhang, which attached importance to confinement, re-set the statute and open farmlands, set factories. He advocated changing Buddhist doctrines according to the change of time appropriately. His such a claim echoed with the idea of Humanistic Buddhism of Master Taixu, and offered a model of reference to the transformation of Buddhist, meanwhile, foreshadowed the thought of "Life Zen" in 1980s.
