Decoration art plays a very important role in our daily life. It includes painting, sculpture, environmental art, industrial products, folk art and so on. The modern horizontal decoration art, the main point I've been studying, has been greatly developed in the past few years and turned out to be more colorful. This article is mainly about my study on the problems that I have met towards my graduation, which contains my opinions in this field, focusing on analyzing and discovering the characteristics and cultural spirits of the modern decoration art, hoping to fill in the blanks in this field.When designing the modern decoration art, we have paid special attention to the combination of the traditional elements and modern form, which has led to the practical use of the traditional art in the modern times; what's more, which has guaranteed the possibility of the combination of these two points.There has been existing a giant difference between to be abstract and to be concrete for hundreds of years, but we always mix both of them in our decoration art design. By analyzing two of them, we can see the combination of these two forms and better methods of illustration.As the necessary part of modern decoration art, material has already been discovered and employed by artist. We have not only applied the useful results of our pioneers to our design, but also found new ways of using material and promoted the use of material and visual expression to a new point.Based on the practice of modern decoration art design, by analyzing and comparing the works of decoration, the author has deeply discussed about the relationship between traditional element in the modern decoration art and form of modern decoration; the relationship between to be abstract and to be concrete; visual expression and use of multiple material, hoping to combine the analysis of individual cases and the study of the common problems. The author has conducted a series of studies on relative contents in order to get a further understanding of modern decoration art design and its cultural spirits.At present we are in modern times with highly developed technique, so we are responsible to combine national culture and world culture. The combination of art and our daily life is what we are chasing after. We wish that our study can offer some practical suggestions for the development of modern decoration art design.
