The Fresco Of Kizil Caves Represents The Art Of Qiuci Grottoes, And The Ornamental Is The Main Character Of It

The thesis gives a full-scaled and detailed description on the background, typical composition, special pattern of ornament and specifically language of Kizil Grottos, trying hard to find out the local form of art of Qiuci, where the Kizil caves located, and to give a research on the ornamental character of the Kizil Grottoes. The research shows there is an aesthetic rule hidden in the factor of Kizil art, from the order in the composition of Kizil Grottoes, to the patterns used with high frequency, till the techniques of exaggeration, transformation and trans-color. All these came into being in a special surrounding, influenced by local culture and religion. Artist in Qiuci became very experienced in the process of painting and teaching, forming a kind of Buddhist art with Qiuci character in the communication of art tradition of local and abroad.
