Anthropological Analysis Of Shen Cong-Wen's Primitivism In Writing

Criticizing modern civilization with primitiveness is the main characteristic of primitivism literature. Shen Cong-wen's works is a typical representative of primitivism literature. Those constructed both sides of Shen Cong-wen's primitivism tendency supplementary that were thinking fondly of rustication, revolting against urbanism, glorifing eastern tradition down to primitivism sentiment, and criticizing western modern civilization in his works.Firstly, western Hunan folk-custom and prototype of "the country folk" were discussed. And primitivism theme in the works of Shen Cong-wen with primitivism creation tendency was investigated. Secondly, the formed root of creation tendency with primitivism of Shen Cong-wen was reviewed in anthropology angle. Two aspects were studied mainly, one was the natural and humanities environment in western Hunan, and the other was reality that he had felt and acceptance of foreign culture in metropolis. Finally, cultural writing on Shen Cong-wen's primitivism creation tendency was reconsidered elaborately from the two aspects, which were writing characteristic on anthropology significance and construction of "the Chinese dream".
