Study Of Cong Shen’s Dramas And Films In The Seventeen Years Period

In the mid-1960 s,Don’t Forget,also known as Wish You Health,can be said to be a household work,however,little attention is given to the pre-history of the text and its author Cong Shen,a typical playwright of Republican literature in the early days of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.With the combing of historical and literature materials,which related to Cong’s representative works during 1950 s and 1960 s,on one hand,this thesis is intended to understand part of Cong’s creative thinking,on the other hand,this carding process can also lead to a general study of dramas and films in the Seventeen Years Period.This paper is divided into five parts.The first part is introduction,which brings forward the relationship between art and politics as the origin of this study,the canonization of Don’t Forget as researching objects,and then presents analysis of related references.On this basis,taking cities’ representation of literariness as a clue,this paper can be structured in chronological order of Cong’s works.The second part drives at the symbolic meaning of small courtyard in front dorms in Fundamental Task,explaining how local traditional culture helps to represent cities in script works.During the early days of the nation,the working class had a rich and complex background.For them,a new interpersonal relationship needed to be established by outsourcing traditional model of local culture.The third part continues the discussion of the second part,which aims to illustrate different build paths of the warmth in the city trough Case of Xu Qiuying and Beam with Smiles.By comparison,even these two films have the same intention about the warm spaces in cities,the form of detective film adds to the uncertainty in Case of Xu Qiuying,and by showing specific relationships in a new collective,Beam with Smiles reveals what the city warmth is relied on.The fourth part identifies research priorities for Don’t Forget.Different from the last two chapters,in the mid-1960 s,cities already had its way of literary representing.Using Cong’s microscope for class and class struggle,and drawing support from Wish You Health and its film version,this chapter introduces contrapposto to demonstrate the work’s artistic tension and possibility to be a classic.The fifth part is the conclusion part.During the Seventeen Years Period,borrowing the local traditional culture can be a successful way to create cities’ representation of literariness,which is not only for Cong’s work,but also for almost all the dramas and films during this period.Meanwhile,contrapposto in Don’t Forget reveals the process of meaning construction retroactively,which is a way towards prescriptive guidance in a one center plus a semicircle pattern.
