The group of loyalists of the Ming dynasty which came into being in the early Qing Dynasty was a special scholar community. Taking Li Shixiong as an example, this dissertation puts him into the certain context through resources such as corpus, lineage genealogies, and chorography, concerns on his social life in the special period during Late Ming and Early Qing Dynasty, reviews the relationship between Li and local society, discusses his friends circle and its alteration, and eventually finds out the various and incompatible existing style and psychological transition process of scholars in the transitional period from Ming to Qing Dynasty. The dissertation makes discussion mainly from three aspects. First, the regional range, members and alteration of Li's friend circle. Second, the topics between Li and his teachers and friends, which focused on three aspects including the recognition of identity, explanation of conception on life and death, as well as the attitude to history. Li's points on these issues reflected his recognitions of himself, his age and history, meanwhile, to some extent, the fate of Li's close teachers and friends has influenced his attitude to the current affairs. Third, community-lineage was the most inner circle of Li's friends, not only because Li has never realistically migrated out of his hometown, but he has put most of his personal ideals into his homeland. Thus it is necessary to analyze his reclusion from the point of view of local society, and re-recognize his role in local society and lineage construction.
