Business English refers to English for designated commercial purposes applied in real commercial environments by businessmen. Business English has its own characteristics in contrast to daily English. In the process of Business English learning, reading is one of the main means of language input; so the teaching of Business English reading based on business knowledge is of particular importance; the result of the teaching exerts a direct impact on the improvement of students' English proficiency. In the process of Business English teaching, there exists the ambiguity of the purpose of the reading with too much importance attached to the results of the reading, whereas the process of the reading is neglected. Actually, the purpose of Business English reading should be inseparable with the content, discourse and skills of businesses.Reading strategies are one major part of components of strategies capabilities of a learner. The study of Business English reading strategies in this paper aims to discover some strategies applicable to Business English reading with reference to the reading strategies of daily English and mistakes made by predecessors.This paper contains a poll, a pre-test, a post-test and a interview. It is a intertwined study of results and process. The study of this paper centers on :1. To understand how well the students use the reading strategies in Business English reading.2. To select and foster some dominant strategies according to the differences of the reading materials.3. To combine the process of learning business know-how and the process of training reading strategies together.4. To investigate the possible relationship of the motivation of Business English learning and the reading strategies.5. To provide some advise to the teaching of Business English reading with regard to the result of the reading strategies training. The targets of the investigation of this paper are 38 junior students from Suqian College. The results of the research reveal:1. The teaching of Business English reading should be a effective combination of business know-how, reading strategies and language knowledge.2. The frequency of using the reading strategies by Business English-majored 3-year students stays low.3. Their tool-using motivation outweighs the melt-in motivation.4. The training of the dominant reading strategies works; and the improvement of the reading comprehension is obviously related to the employment of the strategies.5. The resource strategies employed in Business English reading help a lot in improving the motivation of the students.The significance of this paper lies with the practical and meaningful guidance in choosing the strategies generated by the research for the Business English-majored 3-year students; and helps targeting the aim of the reading and forming effective strategies in Business English reading; and helps improve the effectiveness of the study and the awareness of the employment to the reading strategies to make the Business English teaching and the employment of the strategies complimentary.
