Reading is supposed to play an important role in teaching and learning of English in China.It is not only one of the four basic and important language skills for the learners,but also is the best exposure available to target language.The teacher-centered traditional teaching of reading has been still prevailing,however, plenty of time and energy has been invested,and students' reading ability is far from satisfaction.Based on understanding of interactive model and analysis of factors that affect EFL reading comprehension,the author has proposed four pedagogical suggestions for reading teaching:training basic bottom-up skills; training top-down skills;training the SQ3R strategies;focusing on extensive reading.Only through large reading practice,can these skills and strategies be employed efficiently and effectively;can reading ability and language competence be improved and developed.The analytical survey of the interactive models helps to elevate them to a more valuable stature.And comprehensive utilization of them should be helpful and effective for the reading teaching practice.
