This thesis is based on a distinctive figure of contemporary Chinese literature- -Xiaotian Zhang. His novella as a breakthrough point, it systematically addresses the literary thoughts, assertion and position, as well as the resulted tartness and bluntness of his "literature weapon". From eulogizing the mountains and rivers to talking about the current affairs, Xiaotian Zhang always put realism for good as a permanent habitat and salvation place for everything under his pen. Even if there is much difference between the scenes he saw and the utopian he envisioned, he would still try his utmost to alert people with the normative ideology, before pushing them into the shrine of traditional culture. What Xiaotian Zhang does is to recall and reflect the nice human nature, to pursue and review the traditional Chinese political culture, while inevitably conservative historical novel features can find its expression in his works which is very unique in the contemporary literary circle.Through analysis and comparison in Chapter 1, the slightest difference of "change and unchanged" emerges naturally in the Xiaotian Zhang's novella."Change" is originated from"two stages of Xiaotian Zhang's novella-writing"which is summarized through careful reading and experiencing his novels.The first stage begins from 1970s to 1990s, and it mainly focuses on eulogy and reflection, with"Grass","Open Internal","Fertilizing Others Land","Today There is Difficulties for the Apprentice"etc as representatives. The common characteristics of these works are: true, sincere worries and a strong indictment; looking at the reforms, and praising the virtues. The second stage is from 1990s to now, and it mainly focuses on confusion, with the representatives of "I Want to Be Sick", "Octopus" "For Elise", "Carnation" and so on. The common characteristics of these works are: money and power worshipping, mire of philistine, faces of kinds of life and the alienation of human nature. According to the differences of content and styles of the two stages, it can adopt "mirror" and "knife" as the analogies, that is, the transformation and sublimation from reflecting reality to analyzing the causes which can be seen from the vertical comparison of the changes of the 2 stages in terms of intellectuals, officialdom, home subjects. At the same time, there is"no change"in the ever-changing. Xiaotian Zhang always adopts his long-standing concern for society and human in his novella-writing, so that his own "original characters" and "typical cases" have been formed. Moreover, his concerns for the living conditions of the common people haven't withered but become more intense in the past decades of writing. Nothing can change his writing motivation even though he has suffered because of exposing the blind spots of history.Chapter 2 illustrated one of the features of Xiaotian Zhang's writing-----he can't help but base his literature writing on the standpoint of history.The way of asking on the standing of history makes Xiaotian Zhang's novel ideological reflective. On the one hand, Xiaotian Zhang's novels have some kind of ambiguous force and reflective relationship with the main stream ideology, defined by us as "the co-ordination of non-perception" and "reversely constructing and shaping" of the ideology; On the other hand, Xiaotian Zhang grasps the art of the time and space through his novels and builds a proper coordinates of the cultural world, so we can see that history scene which we haven't experienced but can truly understand after experiencing the time and the background; this writing is due to his linguistic identity, and "ideological discourse" is a manifestation of the characteristics of the times. In his workings, historical affairs are often used to explain era background, vocabularies with clear political signs, as well as to show the impulse of loyalty to the party. At the same time, "barren and cold culture"shows the Northeastern geographical feature. The article is good at dialect, idiom and unique images.Chapter 3 is a upgrading of research. The standing point of history has brought Xiaotian Zhang a sense of participation in reality, and this inevitably leads us to look for the thought resources of Xiaotian Zhang's literature ideas, which further makes us wonder what exactly this has brought to Xiaotian Zhang.This kind of literature thoughts of "literature as weapons", and "truth in literature" are of the same origin of realism literature tradition in Chinese literature. This dated back the earliest to the time of senior and junior Mao and Juyi Bai, with obvious colour of "literature serving politics". I think the literary effects brought to Xiaotian Zhang's novella by this literature thought can not be simply defined as "good" or "bad", because there are complicated two sides of "Tartness" and "bluntness" in different time background and reality conditions. This can be reflected in four aspects. 1.Swaying boundaries : Return to history and destruction of the history.Xiaotian Zhang's writing can be an evidence of history, making the history more clear and at the same time his historical sense makes his works more charming, but this can never be regarded as the excuse that history damages the esthetics of literature.2.This article sticks to the charm and loss of ideology: through his writings, we find that ideology can help literature be rooted in the fields of human history.But overemphasizing it will cause the loss of the beauty of pure literature. It is a must to emphasize acting within an appropriate scale to avoid being reduced to the victims of ideology.3.The rhythm and tilting of literature time and history time: Flashback written is used in his novel. However, to say as a whole, the literature time and history time are combined closely. History time toes the line, step by step, while the literature time has to jump and intersperse to bring readers the joy and beauty of reading. Literature time should follow history reality, but can't be too limited and tilted, for the reason that simple texts will be washed away by history.4.Literature accepts the balance with the features of text fables: Literature creating is longing for literature accepting, especially that Xiaotian Zhang is a writer with thought of "writing is socially responsible", and tend to speak clearly and make truth shown. But art is anyway transcendental. Fabricating a story for a theme and deliberately adding skills to elaborate on the story causes the crisis of awkward writng methods. Only by combining the two perfectly can make the works perfect.Overall, the stories of Xiaotian Zhang deeply analysed contemporary Chinese society, displaying pictures with strong regional and cultural features, with Magnificent far-reaching writing skills and mood. Xiaotian Zhang is for ever an diligent writer who stands on history position,holds the weapon of literature, and truthfully reports the progress of Chinese history. No matter what comments others give to him, it is no denying that he indeed brought a literature status which is worth studying and reflecting to our country and this era.
