Although there has been constant controversy about comprehensible input hypothesis of Krashen, its basic function in English teaching can not be denied. Together with Swain's comprehensible output theory, they are a pair of prime theories in SLA theories. Moreover, in each teaching mode, both input and output are playing irreplaceable roles in the whole teaching process. They have directive significance in College English teaching. Their practicability is undoubted.According to the survey, both the learners and the teachers must pay much attention to some details of both input factors and output factors.On one hand, from the view of input, the teachers should ensure the learner's favorable quality, quantity, reliability and significance of the input language. On the other hand, the teachers should provide relaxed and ordered setting for the learners to practice their output.Both input and output are implemented in different modes in college English teaching. Different teaching modes can be applied to different teaching contents. Therefore, it is quite necessary to make a research on input and output in different teaching modes.When all the positive elements are combined together, there must be ideal and effective teaching operation. Better understanding to input and output theories can facilitate both English teaching and learning.
