A Research On The Inheritance Decline Of Tujia Brocade Crafts

Tujia Brocade is the traditional national crafts of Tujia minority and a symbol show the national uniqueness.Tujia Brocade crafts appeared at Shang,Zhou dynasty of China,shaped up at Qin,Han dynasty,finalized at Tang,Song dynasty,flourished at Ming,Qing dynasty,the inheritance of Tujia brocade crafts experienced thousands of years.But there was some crisis appeared in the course of brocade crafts inheritance after 1970s'.Take Laoche in Longshan, Hunan Province as an example,Laoche village is the birthplace of Tujia Brocade,in this village the production of Tujia brocade reduced,brocade arts innovation have been interrupted for several years and there will no successor in this traditional national crafts.This research is focus on the present situation of Tujia Brocade crafts inheritance.The research mainly based on fieldwork and combined with the analysis of literature,guided by the theory of educational anthropology.In the survey,observation and interview are adopted to objectively describe Laoche village's natural environment,social environment,religious beliefs and mental patterns,the economic life of the villagers,as well as brocade weaving process and the situation of inheritance.Summing up the facts of fieldwork,the article explain the impact of cultural ecosystem transition to the inheritance of Tujia brocade crafts.There were four intuitive reasons result in the Inheritance Decline of Tujia Brocade crafts:First,the disintegretion of social enforcement;Second,progressively failed in mental inheritance;Third,the symbiotic cultural traditions which influence the inherit mechanism undermined;Forth,the effect of cultural choice on inherit mechanism.Based on the four intuitive reasons.In this article,researcher used the theory of cultural ecosystem to discuss the inheritance decline of Tujia Brocade crafts.By the analysis on Laoche village's cultural ecosystem,researcher found that the root of inheritance decline of Tujia Brocade crafts is the unbalance of Laoche village's old cultural ecosystem.This study further pointed out that the change of Laoche village's traditional culture was the result of people accepted external culture,this was the reflection of a group's endogenous demands.The members in this group have priority to treat their cultural tradition over the people who stand outside.The significance of the research is that,get a clear understanding of the specificity and modelity of national culture's inheritance decline in modernizational process.
