The Chinese Di Lun School was an important school of thought in the Northern and Southern Dynasty,its main research was "Explanation of the Ten Stages sutra ",minor researches were "Mahaaparinirvaana-sutra" and other classics.The Di Lun School not only promoted the study of Buddhism at that time,but also had a tremendous impact on Buddhism in China for the future.The Di Lun School was divided into two branches: South Road,North Road,the main bones of contention were different understandings of "Dangchang" and "Xianchang",and teaching theory of "four sects and five sects". Among them,"Dangchang" and "Xianchang" focused on the congenital and the acquired Buddha-nature which was the main differences between the two branches. This controversy on the Buddha-nature building had been dealed with a series of problems for hundreds of years:the interpretation of the definition of Buddha-nature, the time limit and the resulting practice methods and approach,which has become one of the central questions of Chinese Buddhism.Summarizing and analyzing the emergence,impact and development of "Dangchang" and "Xianchang" thought,is a useful complement to the study of Chinese Buddhist philosophy,we can also find the development venation of Buddhism's gradually becoming Chinese Buddhism and turning into an important component of the Chinese traditional culture,which is helpful to the progresses of Chinese traditional culture.The thesis is divided into four parts:Partâ… :Introduction.This part introduces the descendiblity and the ideas of Di Lun School and the main differences of the two branches briefly.At the same time,it explains original material that this study bases on briefly.Partâ…¡:The source of "Dangchang" and "Xianchang".This part introduces the historical origin of the engendering of "Dangchang","Xianchang" mostly and introduces the development clew of Buddha-nature in India and China Buddhism history briefly.When the idea of Buddha-nature ran to a certain stage of development,the putting forward of "Dangchang","Xianchang" naturally occurred,which is a node in the development of Buddhist philosophy.Partâ…¢:"Dangchang" and "Xianchang"--the controversy of two branches of Di Lun School on Buddha-nature.This part studies on the causation of engendering the questions of "Dangchang" and "Xianchang",the complexion of the antitheses idea,the philosophy questions that involved,the consonance of the contradiction and so on weightily.And analyzes the relations among the eighth consciousness true or false, congenital Buddha-nature and the acquired Buddha-nature that are brought forward by Di Lun School.Partâ…£:The impact of "Dangchang" and "Xianchang" thought.This part discusses the historical impact of Buddha-nature of Di Lun School.Besides discussing the impact of the Huayan School and the Faxiang School weightily,this part also affirms and appraises its effect on Chinese philosophy history.
