The Study On Deviation Of Verbal Humor In Zhao Benshan's Comic Sketches

Based on a great deal of authentic data of spoken language in Zhao Benshan's comic sketches , the thesis attempts to discuss Zhao's verbal humour deviation phenomenon in his comic sketches through applying Wang Xijie's zero degree deviation theory.This thesis is divided into five parts.The first chapter is an introduction. It mainly introduces Zhao Benshan's comic sketches and an overview of associated documents, the deviation theory, research methods and significance of this thesis.The second chapter is an analysis to conventional deviation of verbal humor language in Zhao Benshan's comic sketches. The chapter dicusses deviation phenomenon from pronunciation, writing, vocabulary, grammar and semantics. Deviation is widely used in Zhao Benshan's comic sketches. His comic sketches not only pay great attention to the vocabulary deviation but also use the grammar, semantic and writing deviation. Simultaneously considering fully features of oral dissemination of this artistic form , the sketches have utilized the pronunciation deviation massively.The third chapter is an analysis to logic deviation of verbal humour in Zhao Benshan's comic sketches . Four logical deviation are elaborated including the deviation identity, the deviation law of contradiction, the deviation law of excluded middle, the deviation law of sufficient reason. The humorous effect of applying these logic deviation makes one laugh and is thought- provoking.The fourth chapter analyses communicative principles in verbal humor of Zhao Benshan's comic sketches. Four cooperative principles are expounded, namely quantity maxim, quality maxim, relation maxim and manner maxim. The violation of these principles is an efficient way to achieve humourous effect in the comic sketches. The inopportune spoken language bocomes characteristic of the comic works and make the works humorous.Thus the audience can obtain the humorous esthetic feeling in the fantastic spoken language works.The last chapter is the conclusion and makes a summary of the thesis.
